Ebbsfleet United have been drawn away to Chelmsford City in the FA Cup Second Qualifying Round, with the game to take place on Saturday, 26th September.
It will be the first meeting of the clubs this season and Fleet will now visit the Melbourne Stadium twice inside four weeks, with our league clash there scheduled for 24th October.
The clubs previously met in FA Cup competition in 2006/07 when Fleet, then in the Conference Premier, were turfed out of the cup by a single goal at the Fourth Qualifying Round stage. That, however, was the only FA Cup or Trophy tie between the two clubs, despite clashing some 80 times in league and league cup competition.
Fleet will renew acquaintances with our former striker Billy Bricknell, who signed for the Clarets in the summer, though on-loan defender Aiden Palmer is unlikely to be granted permission to play. Kenny Clark, of course, will revisit the ground where he was once skipper, having scored there last season for the Fleet.
Fleet ran out 5-1 winners in last season’s league clash at Chelmsford, but the Clarets claimed their revenge just six days later in a 2-0 victory at Stonebridge Road.
