Fleet land Hawks in next round

It’s a familiar opponent in the Third Qualifying Round of the Emirates FA Cup after Fleet were paired with Havant & Waterlooville, the tie to take place at Stonebridge Road on October 1st.

Although the two sides have never met in the FA Cup, we were regular foes at league level until the Hawks’ relegation last season. We have twice played Havant & Waterlooville in the FA Trophy, with one win apiece, and the Fleet beat one of the Hawks’ predecessor clubs Waterlooville in the Fourth Qualifying Round back in 1993.

Now playing in the Ryman Premier Division like our previous opponents AFC Sudbury, Havant currently lie a place above them in third. And, like Sudbury, the Hawks have lost only one game this season, that being their opening-day fixture at Leiston.

They have beaten Sholing 2-0 and Highworth Town 5-1 to reach the Third Qualifying Round and still have a number of familiar faces including former Fleet midfielder Theo Lewis plus most of last season’s National League South squad is still in place.

The match will be an all-pay fixture, with season, half-season and mini tickets not eligible.
