The Fleet have been drawn away to Enfield Town in the First Round of the Buildbase FA Trophy.
The London club are currently in the promotion hunt in the BetVictor Isthmian Premier Division and have lost only two league games this season. They have also beaten higher opposition in the form of Braintree Town in the Emirates FA Cup.
Two former Fleet players turn out for the Towners – Billy Bricknell (who scored twice in their Third Qualifying Round win versus Maldon & Tiptree at the weekend) and Kezie Ibe. They have also beaten Bishop’s Stortford and Thatcham Town in this season’s competition, thus making the First Round for the only time.
This will be the first meeting of the two clubs, with Enfield Town having been formed in 2001 following the split with the original Enfield club, who are now reformed as Enfield 1893. Fleet played the original Enfield – winners of the Trophy in 1982 and 1988 – some 13 times, the last occasion 17 years ago in the Ryman League.
The tie will be played on Saturday, 14th December, with kick-off at 3pm. Enfield Town play at the refurbished Queen Elizabeth II Stadium, first opened as an athletics venue in 1953.
