Fleet’s end-of-tour friendly on the Algarve ended in a 4-2 victory as Daryl McMahon’s squad came from behind to bring another highly satisfactory week to a victorious conclusion.
As against Billericay Town last week, all squad members got a runout through the match at various points and, importantly for the Fleet staff, all came through the 90 minutes without injury or incident.
Having trailed opponents FC Ferreiras of the Campeonato de Portugal by 2-1 at the Estádio de Nora in Albufeira, Fleet – playing in their blue change shirts for the first time – racked up three more goals in the second half.
Goalscorers for the tourists were Chris Bush, two for Myles Weston with one of those a great strike from a free-kick and Weston then supplied the cross for Danny Kedwell to open his account for the summer.
Once again, the club wish to thank the Colina Verde Sports Resort and Algarve Football Tours for the wonderful hospitality and, more importantly, the provision of fantastic facilities to help the squad’s conditioning targets this week.
Fleet return to action this Tuesday night with Eastbourne Borough the visitors to the Kuflink Stadium for our second home pre-season friendly. Kick-off is 7.45pm.
