Fleet chairman hopes to build on crowd numbers

Vice Chairman Peter Varney has told FleetOnline how excited Dr Abdulla was to see the biggest crowd of the season at Stonebridge Road last night.

Varney said, “It was fantastic to see the stadium buzzing and Dr Abdulla is keen to see our gates grow, as we all are, and our style of play under Daryl McMahon deserves bigger crowds for sure.

“The media support we got on the day played a big part in achieving a crowd of 2,045 with virtually no away fans in the stadium.

“I would particularly like to thank The Sun, Sky Sports and talkSPORT for the exposure given to us on Tuesday throughout the day. Some of our football last night was top drawer, particularly in the first half, and I hope people realise that having played 11 league matches already since 8th August (compared to the Premier League’s six) and four in the last 11 days alone, the fitness and commitment of our players is amazing.”

The club would also like to remind fans that tickets for the Maidstone home game on Saturday 3rd October will continue to be sold via the club office on weekdays (normal office hours) right through the date of the game.
