The Fleet were left empty-handed as Woking took all three points in the first of two league fixtures this Bank Holiday weekend.
Dominics Samuel and Poleon were reintroduced to the starting lineup, while there were also starts for Tyler Cordner, Toby Edser and Franklin Domi.
The first chance of the match fell in favour of the hosts as Ben Chapman linked up with Samuel and he worked himself through on goal but the shot was denied by Cian Harries. It produced the first of numerous Fleet corners in the first-half but Woking were able to deal with those to keep the score blank.
On 11 minutes, against his former side, one of Jim Kellermann’s corners came back out to Franklin Domi who arrived at the edge of the area to pick up play and fire a shot off target.
Jacob Jones got a shot away from close range for Woking on 20 minutes but Mark Cousins timed his dive at the ball perfectly.
Samuel continued to look dangerous in front of goal but Will Jaaskelainen denied him 10 minutes later while another Kellermann corner dropped on the roof of the net as an even match seemed likely to head into the break goalless.
Woking, however, found the breakthrough on 33 minutes when Dale Gorman whipped a free-kick delivery into the area. Defender Max Dyche did ever so well to climb and produce a powerful looping header that was too high for Cousins and headed for the top corner to give the Cards the lead.
Fleet tried to get Poleon away on several occasions but he was well-marshalled down the middle by Harries and Tunji Akinola, leaving Woking in command as the players headed back to the dressing rooms.
It was a slower start to the second half as Deon Moore saw his shot sail off target for the visitors five minutes in. Danny Searle then rang the changes with Josh Wright and Jephte Tanga sent on. It was Tanga who claimed a penalty after Poleon’s shot was beaten away and the Fleet substitute was felled in the follow-up by Jaaskelainen but the referee wasn’t interested.
Woking all but secured the points on 78 minutes when a misplaced Craig Tanner pass from midfield ran into substitute Charley Kendall’s path and he was able to slot the ball home as he faced Cousins one on one.
Tanga went close again with a shot that sped across the face of goal but nobody else was able to turned that and Woking managed a third in time added on – this time it was another substitute, Matt Ward, with a well-executed curling shot from just inside the area that found the top corner.
