Royston Town will visit the Kuflink Stadium on Saturday February 8th in the Buildbase FA Trophy Third Round.
Royston, who ply their trade in the Southern League Premier Division Central – from where our previous opponents King’s Lynn Town were promoted from last season – are one of the giant-killers of this season’s competition, having beaten Chester 3-0 in Round Two.
They have also seen off Boreham Wood and Wealdstone en route and beat Haywards Heath 7-0 in a qualifying round.
Formed in 1875 and managed by ex-St Albans City boss Steve Castle, the Hertfordshire club known as The Crows are fifth in the league and looking for automatic promotion to the National League South at the end of the season.
One player who will be familiar to Fleet fans is goalkeeper Joe Welch who played briefly for us in 2011/12, while centre-back Ben Martin came up against us for the likes of St Albans and Welling United in the past.
This tie does mean, of course, that our away game at Maidenhead United scheduled for February 8th will be postponed for another date.
The full draw is:
Ebbsfleet United v Royston Town
Concord Rangers or Bath City v Kingstonian or Leamington
Harrogate Town v Eastleigh
FC Halifax Town v Halesowen Town or Maidenhead United
Farsley Celtic or Barnet v Barrow
Dorking Wanderers or Stockport County v AFC Fylde
