Stacy Long’s 25-yard piledriver is cancelled out as Rovers strike late to earn a point at The Lawn…
FOREST GREEN ROVERS 2-2 EBBSFLEET UNITED
The Fleet are still on course for a top seven finish but could have been in pole position come next Saturday had they held out for the full three points in Gloucestershire this evening. A 69th minute Stacy Long drive from 25 yards put the Fleet’s noses in front as Liam Daish’s men sought to overtake their opponents in the top half of the Blue Square Premier table.
But it was Rovers who opened the scoring on 36 minutes, Alex Lawless converting a free kick with an accurate low drive past Lance Cronin. The Fleet weren’t behind for long and Luke Moore continued his recent good spell with a goal on 42 minutes, coolly tucking a shot past Terry Burton.
Long’s excellent effort which flew into the top corner of the net looked to have rewarded the Fleet for another professional performance but with a minute left, Jonathan Smith supplied yet another noteworthy long-range effort to send the locals home happy and rescue a point that keeps Rovers a point and a place above the Fleet with one game left.
