Strikers shine at Fleet fortress

Strikers Raphael Nade and Chukki Eribenne give Fleet their fourth straight home win against Droylsden.

EBBSFLEET UNITED 2-0 DROYLSDEN

The Fleet notched their fourth successive win at Stonebridge Road this afternoon as an improved second-half performance saw them ease home to move eighth in the table. The home side got off to a slow start in a goalless first half as Droylsden’s work ethic shook the Fleet out of their game and, in truth, the visitors did not look like a side with as few points as they’ve got.

However, a much better second-half showing from the Fleet saw them take control, first when Chris McPhee’s superb run into the penalty area found Raphael Nade, who had the easiest of finishes, to make it 1-0 on 52 minutes. Fleet were rarely troubled by Droylsden after that, and Chukki Eribenne, on as a substitute following his hamstring injury, doubled the lead on 79 minutes, as with his back to goal, he turned superbly and hit a rising drive wide of the Droylsden goalkeeper.

Full report to follow.
