Grecians get the point against familiar Fleet

Fleet get that familiar feeling of deja vu as Exeter score a late equaliser.

EXETER CITY 1-1 EBBSFLEET UNITED

LIam Daish was frustrated with his side’s inability to convert a point into three as, for the third time this season, the Fleet let slip a valuable goal lead away from home in the closing stages. Daish began with the same XI that drew at Burton, and while Exeter enjoyed the lion’s share of possession, it was the Fleet who edged ahead towards the end of the first half. John Hastings almost opened his account with an excellent shot that Andy Marriott parried for the corner. From the resulting Stacy Long set piece, Michael Bostwick connected to open the scoring.

Fleet frustrated Exeter’s efforts for most of the second half but it was a case of deja vu when Jamie Mackie got clear in the penalty area nine minutes from time to leave Lance Cronin stranded.
