Fleet silence Lions’ roar

Luke Moore’s tight-angled shot on 69 minutes wins Fleet the second of their three pre-season friendlies.

EBBSFLEET UNITED 2-0 MILLWALL

A second Chukki Eribenne goal in as many games set the Fleet on the winning path as they overcame League One Londoners Millwall. It was Eribenne?s head which again did the damage as he tucked away a corner in the first half, deflecting off Millwall defender Richard Shaw after the goalkeeper had parried Paul McCarthy?s initial effort.

Millwall succeeded only in creating two half chances, while Raphael Nade should perhaps have done better for the Fleet just before half-time, heading over from a Stacy Long cross.

Substitute Luke Moore finished the game off in style just after the hour mark to cap a decent Fleet performance that kept a muted Millwall on the back foot and a decent four-figure crowd entertained.

The Fleet also featured trialists Chris McPhee and Phil Starkey (ex-Crystal Palace) for the final 15 minutes of the game.

Team: Cronin, Ricketts, Opinel (booked), Hawkins, Smith, McCarthy, Long, Barrett, Nade, Eribenne, Coleman. Subs on: Moore, McPhee, Slatter, Starkey, Purcell, Akinde, Stubbs.
