Fleet launch campaign with Stags party

THE FLEET KICK OFF THEIR LEAGUE SEASON AGAINST NEW BOYS MANSFIELD TOWN…

Ebbsfleet United will begin the 2008-09 Blue Square Premier season at Stonebridge Road with a clash against Mansfield Town, relegated from League Two last season, on Saturday 9 August. It is a mouth-watering beginning for the Fleet who had hoped to kick-off proceedings at home against a “big name” to capitalise on local interest from the FA Trophy.

And it is one of many potentially huge ties in the opening weeks of the season that see Fleet also take on big-spending Rushden, as well as FA Trophy finalists Torquay, Stevenage, Oxford, Cambridge and Wrexham all before mid-September. Bank Holiday clashes include a visit to Lewes on August 25, with the return clash at Stonebridge Road on Easter Monday, April 13. Grays Athletic again provide the traditional Boxing Day and New Year’s Day clashes. Ebbsfleet’s campaign also closes at home on April 25 against Salisbury City.

The first Setanta TV live game involving the Fleet is on Monday 18 August, when Liam Daish’s men will travel to Plainmoor to take on Torquay United.

The Fleet also know the date they will begin their defence of the FA Trophy ? Saturday 13 December ? against opponents yet to be confirmed. Involvement in the FA Cup begins in the Fourth Qualifying Round on Saturday 25 October.
