FLEET DEFENDER JAMES SMITH LANDS HIS FIRST ENGLAND C CAP IN THE CARIBBEAN…
Ebbsfleet United defender James Smith won his first cap as he played 85 minutes in England C’s 2-0 win over Barbados at the National Stadium in Bridgetown in front of a crowd of 3,100.
Smith, 22, kept out an eager home side in the early exchanges and England gradually turned the game their way, scoring on 16 minutes through Halifax Town’s Jon Shaw. Kidderminster’s Russell Penn doubled the lead shortly after the hour mark and Smith left the field on 85 minutes after sustaining a slight head injury, to be replaced by Cambridge veteran Wayne Hatswell.
