EUFC join up with AA

Ebbsfleet United have put pen to paper on a deal to sign commanding Barnet central defender Anthony Acheampong for an undisclosed fee.

The 23-year-old former England C international was a key member of Welling United’s Conference South-winning campaign last season and moved on a two-year deal to Barnet in the summer for a £8,000 fee. He has featured in 21 Skrill Premier games for the Bees so far this season.

An aerial threat from set pieces, he played 44 times in 2012-13 for the Wings, scoring seven goals, and helped the side to an impressive 17 clean sheets on their way to the title. He was also named in the 2012/13 Blue Square South Team of the Season.

He joined Welling in 2010 from Horsham and before that was on the books of Cardiff City, where he was shortlisted for the Wickes Young Apprentice Trophy of the Year, which aimed to shine the spotlight on future Football League stars.

Fleet boss Steve Brown said, “I have been tracking Anthony for some time and am delighted to have finally secured his signature. He will be a valuable addition to the squad and provide competition in an area of the team where that has been lacking.”
