The construction work at Stonebridge Road enters a new phase this coming week with the demolition stage of the operation now officially at an end.
Following the completion of the bulk of demolition a fortnight ago, contractors TSP have been busy on the excavation side of things, working on the drainage in the area under where the new stand will be constructed. The piling mat was then laid out at the beginning of last week, which serves as a platform for the piling rig that now looms over Stonebridge Road.
The piling rig itself arrived late last week and already 20 piles have been drilled and packed. A piling rig drives poles deep into the prepared, flattened area to provide support for the foundations of the stand. Once complete, we will then be able to lay the foundations and begin construction in earnest.
