Ebbsfleet United’s vice chairman Peter Varney echoed his manager’s thoughts in praising the travelling fans at Dagenham & Redbridge last night.
Varney told FleetOnline, “Quite apart from seeing more than 300 fans packed together in that one stand, the support they gave the players and the noise they made was absolutely amazing. On behalf of the club, I’d like to say thank you to all of them for their well-behaved and fantastic support. They continue to lend their voices to back Daryl and his players everywhere we go; it is very much appreciated and it never goes unnoticed.”
Daryl McMahon was equally grateful, saying: “The fans were absolutely magnificent. They knew that at 2-0 down and 3-1 down they are supporting a team that never ever gives up and their support inspired a magnificent comeback. The players and management were all talking about the support after the match and rightly so. They did us proud.”
And Nathan Ashmore, who had the Fleet support behind him throughout the second half, said: “The fans were unbelievable tonight, they’re always unbelievable, but tonight was absolutely exceptional and it was brilliant to get the equaliser for them. And they can probably talk about it into the weekend now!”
Fleet fans have the opportunity to do it all again on Saturday, with a visit to Maidenhead United only four months after our 2-1 win there in National League South, and the club hierarchy are once again hoping for a loud, proud and numerous turnout.
