Fleet chairman Dr Abdulla Al-Humaidi flew in to the UK on Saturday morning to watch the team play at Hemel Hempstead Town and praised the spirit of the players in coming back from 1-0 down to win the match 2-1.
Speaking to FleetOnline he said, “I flew in from Kuwait on Saturday morning and it was certainly a bumpy landing at Heathrow. I couldn’t believe the weather conditions when I got to the stadium.”
And Dr Abdulla certainly timed his visit to perfection, witnessing one of the most memorable Fleet fightbacks in many years. “Daryl McMahon has put together a team that plays tremendous flowing football,” he said, “but it is impossible to play our normal game in conditions like we experienced on Saturday.
“To go behind with five minutes left and then come back to win is a great testament to the spirit in our team and we created a number of good goalscoring opportunities in the match despite the conditions. I just hope the English weather can be a little kinder to us in the coming weeks and months!”
