The Fleet can unveil a new signing today as goalkeeper Giosue ‘Gio’ Bellagambi makes a return to the Kuflink Stadium following a loan spell here towards the end of the 2020/21 season.
The 23-year-old stopper was a Huddersfield Town academy player alongside Mustapha Olagunju when he first arrived here on loan in January 2021, making his debut in a 2-1 win over Hampton & Richmond Borough. He was restricted to just two games due to the National League South season’s premature end as a result of the pandemic and lockdown situation.

Since then, he has gained further experience playing for Spennymoor United, Stalybridge Celtic, Hyde United and Salford City as well as representing Uganda at international level. Last season, Bellagambi joined Barnet, keeping clean sheets in the FA Trophy and in the champions’ final game of the National League campaign where he played with fellow new signing Ben Coker.
“I’ve gained a lot of experience since I was last here,” the goalkeeper told FleetTV. “I had further loans, I was with the first team at Huddersfield and with the promotion side at Barnet last season so I’ve gained a lot and I’ve grown [in experience]. I’m really looking forward to working with Mark Cousins here as well who’s a top keeper.”

With the Fleet’s new goalkeeper aged under 24, a compensation fee is due to his previous club and that is currently being discussed between the two clubs and subject to FA/National League approval.
Gio is available for sponsorship for this coming season. Please email us on [email protected] if you are interested in sponsoring our new goalkeeper.
