Scott Ginty’s third goal of the season is little consolation as Fleet offer too little, too late…
Despite a barnstorming finish at Stonebridge Road, Fleet slipped to defeat at home to Altrincham this afternoon after allowing their opponents to take a two-goal lead.
Chris Senior opened the scoring on 14 minutes after Fleet twice failed to clear their lines in an even first half, and the visitors doubled that lead only six minutes into the second half when Greg Young got the final head in a goalmouth scramble that Lance Cronin twice tried to claw away.
With the game looking beyond the Fleet, substitute Scott Ginty took only five minutes to haul his side back into proceedings, a well-taken goal on 62 minutes just reward for a cool finish.
The Fleet then had a succession of half-chances, the best falling to Michael West whose low drive was palmed away by the Alty goalkeeper.
