Fleet 1-1 Maidstone United

Fleet finished with a draw in their penultimate pre-season friendly against Maidstone United tonight at the new Gallagher Stadium, the Ryman League Division One South side coming from behind to equalise.

Liam Daish’s visitors began with a line-up consisting of a number of squad players as Tom McNeill and Adam Williams started, together with trialists Ryan Blake, Jay Folkes, Phil Walsh, Leon Wilson and Ben Greenhalgh. And it was ex-Welling midfielder Greenhalgh who opened the scoring on 7 minutes with a decent low drive from distance into the corner of the goal past ex-Dartford goalkeeper Deren Ibrahim.

The lead lasted only 20 minutes, however, after Stones’ new signing and ex-Fleet striker Paul Booth got his side back on level terms. With a flurry of second-half substitutions, the game petered out with a draw a fair reflection of the game.
