Preview: Weston-super-Mare

It’s a fine balance in the play-off picture at the Kuflink Stadium this weekend as top-seven rivals Weston-super-Mare arrive with three games in hand on Josh Wright’s side. But a win for the Fleet would give us an eight-point advantage over the Seagulls, making this a potentially crucial encounter in the promotion race.

Form guide
Despite a late scare on Tuesday night, the Fleet bagged six points from a possible nine following the the three-match away spell with wins coming against Eastbourne Borough and Maidenhead, plus three goals scored for the Fleet in each of those fixtures. It’s been a mixed run of form of late for Saturday’s visitors despite recent back-to-back wins against AFC Totton and Hampton & Richmond. Tuesday night saw the Seagulls fall short with a narrow defeat at home to Tonbridge Angels.

Last time out

The Fleet felt they deserved more in the away fixture in November (above) after falling to a single goal under the lights in Somerset. Loanee Scott Wilson – now back at Bath City – scored the only goal in that match as Fleet missed a penalty. Weston’s last visit (below) was in 2017 when Danny Kedwell and Darren McQueen scored in a 2-1 win for the Fleet.

Who’s who
Max Harris is a goalkeeper who previously spent time with Hereford, Oxford United, Oxford City and AFC Totton. He made a move to Cheltenham Town in 2021, from where he enjoyed four successful loan periods at Weston, making over 100 appearances. Harris also had spells with Redditch, Cinderford Town and Bath City before joining the Seagulls on a permanent basis last May.

Louis Britton had impressive spells with Brislington and Mangotsfield United before securing a move to Bristol City in 2019. During his time at Ashton Gate, he gained valuable experience out on loan at a number of clubs, most notably with Waterford in Ireland, where he scored regularly. After departing Bristol City in 2022, the striker enjoyed prolific periods with Maldon & Tiptree and Bristol Manor Farm before joining Weston in March 2025. He is currently the side’s leading goalscorer this season with 17 goals.

Former Fleet midfielder Luke Coulson (below) spent parts of his early career at Manchester City and Cardiff City. He then went on to represent Oxford City, Eastleigh, Barnet, Bromley and Dartford as well as the Fleet. The 32-year-old joined Weston in May 2024 and had a phenomenal first season with the Seagulls, scoring 23 goals and assisting with 22 for his teammates.
