The Fleet travel to Chelmsford City this Saturday in the first reverse fixture of the 2025/26 campaign.

Chelmsford put a dip in form aside that included their FA Cup exit at home to Weston-super-Mare with a league victory away at Eastbourne Borough last weekend – early goals from Joe Grimwood and Jason Adigun cancelled out a second-half goal from the Sports. Chelmsford have won three and lost three of their last six league games but had lost three in a row until last Saturday.

With Chelmsford having beaten Braintree in the FA Cup earlier in the season, it was the Fleet who did the same in the FA Trophy last Saturday, the second time this season a National League club was beaten by Josh Wright’s side.

Saturday’s game is the first reverse fixture of the season, with the teams having met in the third matchday of the 2025/26 campaign. Josh Coley was the only scorer that night with a strike moments before half-time and Fleet have the opportunity now for the first double of the season.

Chelmsford have only scored in one of their last five home games against the Fleet with the sides having won one each and drawn three in that time.

Who’s who
Lyle Taylor is a player with a high football pedigree, joining the Clarets in the late summer from Colchester United. The 35-year-old’s most notable career moves saw him play over 150 matches for AFC Wimbledon and 67 times for Charlton Athletic. The forward has featured 15 times for the Clarets in all competitions this season with seven goals. 

Jason Adigun is a 21-year-old who broke through the academy at Charlton and was loaned out to Welling United before making a permanent switch to Dagenham & Redbridge. The attacking midfielder signed for the Clarets in the summer and has featured 10 times this season with four goals.
