It’s successive league matches at the Kuflink Stadium this next few days with Chesham United the first to make the trip to Kent before being followed by Horsham three days later. It is the first meeting with Chesham for almost a quarter of a century.
Form Guide
The Fleet will hope to continue the unbeaten home record following three successive league wins plus cup victories along the way on home soil. Chesham sit just below the Fleet in the table with 24 points helped by six wins this season. In their previous five matches, the Generals have had a mixed run of form – two wins, two defeats and a draw.
Who’s who
Nathan Minhas is a proven and reliable goalscorer at Steps 2 and 3, having built a strong reputation for his consistency and finishing ability. He hit 17 goals for Slough Town after arriving from Beaconsfield the previous summer, where he had enjoyed a prolific spell that saw him score 52 goals. He continued that form last season, netting 15 times and finishing as Chesham’s top scorer once again. Over the years he has also played for a number of other clubs, including Maidenhead United, Ascot United, Billericay Town, Bracknell Town and Hampton & Richmond.
Steve Brown is a commanding centre-back and current club captain. He brings experience and leadership, having spent time with Oxhey Jets and Northwood, and has featured 24 times for the Generals.
Matt McClure is an experienced striker formerly with Wycombe, Dagenham, Aldershot and Chippenham Town, from where he joined Chesham in the summer.
The managers
Chesham are one of the few clubs operating with joint managers as James Duncan and Michael Murray are a long-standing pair. They won promotion with Potters Bar Town and did the same at Chesham two seasons ago. They are now in their seventh season with the Generals.
