Fleet to entertain Braintree in Trophy

The Fleet will host Braintree Town in the Third Round of the Isuzu FA Trophy on December 13th.

The tie is a repeat of the 2014/15 season when the two sides were drawn together at the same stage, although that took place in Essex (below), with Fleet progressing via a replay at Stonebridge Road.

Braintree are currently 21st in the National League with four wins from 19 games and they lost at rivals Chelmsford in the FA Cup earlier this season.

Last season, in the league game between us at the Kuflink Stadium (below), Braintree earned a narrow 1-0 win thanks to a penalty from Fleet old boy John Akinde (a Trophy winner with the Fleet in 2008).

This will be the 27th meeting of the two sides though only our third cup tie after an FA Cup meeting in 1997/98 and the aforementioned Trophy clash in 2014/15.

Having received £3,750 for winning the previous round, Fleet stand to gain £4,500 for a Third Round win or £1,250 for a defeat.
