News of a second arrival for the Fleet ahead of our match this afternoon at York City sees the 28-day loan signing of striker Aaron Cosgrave from FC Halifax Town. The 25-year-old, who has played most of his football in the south before his move to Halifax, goes straight into today’s squad wearing shirt number 28.
Cosgrave has played in League One with AFC Wimbledon and has National League experience with Havant & Waterlooville, Dover Athletic and Southend United, as well as his time at The Shay.
A former West Ham United and Colchester United academy player, he earned a first taste of senior football at Essex club Coggeshall Town where he won promotion, leading to a move to newly promoted Havant in the National League. Following spells with Chelmsford City, Welling United and Lewes, he moved into League One with the Dons for the 2021/22 season. While at Plough Lane, he also turned out on loan for Dover and Southend in the National League, and with National North runners-up King’s Lynn Town.
Halifax made the move to sign him permanently at the beginning of last season and he has since featured 40 times for the Shaymen, scoring against the Fleet in October 2023 at the Kuflink Stadium.
