Cumbers opts for Gills return

Luis Cumbers returns to Gillingham…

Despite being offered a further month loan period Luis Cumbers has decided to return to Gillingham. Luis has been struggling with a foot injury over the past week and although he travelled to Barrow on Saturday was unable to take his place in the team.

It would appear that Luis did not wish to become FA Cup tied and so it was agreed that it was in everyone?s interest to return the player.

Liam Daish said, “We need key players to be performing not sitting in the stand, particularly in the FA Cup. It is an important competition for us and we need all players to be committed. I thank Luis for his time with us and wish him well for the future.”

Gills manager Mark Stimson said, ?Luis risked getting cup-tied if he extended his stay at Ebbsfleet and he doesn?t want to get involved in that, so he?s coming back to us.?
