Cundle keeps his feet on Fleet ground

After another statistic-topping season for Fleet wide man Greg Cundle, the 26-year-old will now set his sights on a fourth campaign at the Kuflink Stadium following a new deal at the club.

Cundle rattled home 12 goals in all competitions last season, signing off the title-winning campaign with the opener in our last game in the Vanarama National League South against Hungerford Town.

With seven assists from his wide position, converted to that from a striker role by Dennis Kutrieb in 2021, Cundle’s contribution to the Fleet’s domination of the league last season was never in doubt.

He passed the 70-game mark for the Fleet during 2022/23 and is one of the longest-serving players under Kutrieb, having joined as ‘Trialist G’ in the manager’s first summer in English football.

Cundle, who was among Kutrieb’s “top trainers” at the end-of-season awards, had targeted more goals and assists in his game last summer and he more than fulfilled that ambition in a record-breaking season for the club.

Now the former Gillingham and Horsham player will embark on his first National League campaign, having played in League One for the Gills in 2016/17.
