Pete and Maggie back on board as they accept honorary Fleet roles

The club is extremely pleased to announce that long-serving club secretary Peter Danzey will be present at the Kuflink Stadium on future matchdays alongside Maggie to take their place in our directors’ box and cheer on the Fleet.

Maggie announced her retirement early last month after many years of dedicated service, whilst Peter followed with his decision to resign a few weeks later. After a time of contemplation and an exciting opening day to Dennis Kutrieb and the Fleet squad’s campaign, Peter was in no doubt where his affections lay.

As a result, the club is delighted that he has accepted the role of Honorary Club Secretary alongside Maggie’s role as Honorary Kit Manager, in acknowledgement of the many hours of dedication both have given the Fleet over many years.

CEO Damian Irvine said, “Peter and Maggie have always been held in very regard by everyone at the club and their work and commitment has contributed fundamentally to the club’s progress over the years. The role of club secretary has changed significantly over recent seasons and we looked at ways for Peter to best enjoy being around the club again and with a role to play here. Watching the Fleet on matchdays is the most important thing for Peter and Maggie and so we are really pleased they have decided to accept the honorary roles which we feel properly honour their contribution in an ongoing fashion and that they will continue to be surrounded by the fans and friends they have made at this football club down so many years.”

Peter and Maggie will attend matches as boardroom guests where they can and continue to provide welcome advice and assistance when needed, drawing on their years of experience and care for the club.

Matthew Webb will continue as Club Secretary and will always have Peter on call for advice and assistance and an extra pair of hands when required on matchday.
