Gary MacDonald picks up a prize at the club’s second Golf Day

The second EUFC Golf Day teed off from Mid Kent Golf Club on a bright but crisp morning on Tuesday, 97 competitors taking part in the event, scored as a ? allowance Stableford, and proceedings were kicked off by a team consisting of Fleet?s Assistant Manager Alan Kimble, Adrian Perrett, Olaf Throndsen and Nick Lyons, representing Remax 24.

Others associated with the first team who braved the course were manager Liam Daish, goalkeeper Lance Cronin, defenders Peter Hawkins, Sacha Opinel, Gary MacDonald, James Smith, Mark Ricketts and Warren Goodhind, midfielders Stacy Long and Neil Barrett, and utility man Chris McPhee. Luke Moore also turned out to show support, walking the entire course without striking a ball!

The weather remained bright for the entire day, with the sun disappearing behind the trees as the final group, including Fleet manager Liam Daish, teed off onto the 18th fairway.

A three-course meal was served in the clubhouse at 5pm, and shortly afterwards the prizes were awarded.

The two nearest the pin prizes (holes 4 and 16) went to Lloyd Gofton and Robert Osmond, with the two longest drives (holes 8 and 18) going to Claire Aitken and the club?s very own Gary ?Tiger? MacDonald.

Third place in the team event went to Terry Ashworth, Mark Hammond, Stuart Bell and Gary MacDonald. Robert Osmond, Kevin Drynan, Shaun Hammond and Mick Brittan took second spot, and the event was won by Bob Savage, John Brennan, Tony Garofalo and Max Hadiyatly.

An enjoyable day was had by all, and Greg Bettles of Ebbsfleet United commented, “The event was a great success. We had an increased uptake for the day compared to last year, and we would like to thank everyone who took part. We?d also like to thank Liam Daish, Alan Kimble and the members of the first team squad who turned out on the day, and all those behind the scenes who helped make the day a success, not only those from Ebbsfleet United, but all those at Mid Kent Golf Club too.”
