Bradley Bubb scored his second league goal in succession but branded the evening a massive disappointment following Hampton & Richmond Borough’s late equaliser.
“It’s not a really great performance,” Bubb said. “We were there to get the three points but a last-minute equaliser’s killed us and we’ve just got to take the point. We had a few chances but we just lacked quality today in the midfield, keeping the ball. It’s massively disappointing. They were throwing everything at us, even in the first half we had a warning where they had three shots in a row, hit the post, one off the line. But we just switched off last minute.”
Naturally, the Fleet striker was pleased to take the starting chance with an early goal though admitted there was an element of good fortune about it. “I was delighted to get the goal,” he said. “I’ve been working hard in training and just waiting for my chance. I got my chance and took it. [The goal] was a bit of luck, I’ve heard it hit off the defender and I looked around and the ball was there so I just tapped it in. The keeper was running back to the line so I just took my time and slotted it in.
“I love scoring any type of goals. As long as it goes in and helps the team, I’m happy. But it’s about the result, it’s not about me.”
