If having passed the half-century milestone you thought your dreams of wearing Fleet red were over, then think again. Ebbsfleet United are seeking keen over 50s for a walking football side which will be marshalled and whipped into shape under the watchful eye of defender Kenny Clark.
On Wednesday, 26th October, the Fleet will be holding an Over 50s walking football tournament from 6.00pm – 8.30pm. The club have been working alongside community partners The Gr@nd organising the event and are now recruiting players to take part.
Walking football is, as it sounds, a slower version of the beautiful game where running concedes a free kick to the opposing team and sliding tackles are banned. The aim of the event is to keep people over the age of 50 involved within football if due to a lack of mobility or for any other reason they are unable to take part in the traditional game anymore.
There will be a number of short matches held on the night where anyone over 50 can come and join in.
If you are interested in taking part, please contact the club via email ([email protected]) or phone on 01474 533796.
