Fleet goalscorer Charlie Sheringham admitted he’s “felt better” after completing his first 90 minutes in a Fleet shirt for quite some time.
Speaking to Charles Webster, Sheringham said: “It’s always nice to score goals and nice to kick off the season with one. I’m feeling a little bit worse for wear. It’s my first game at all, including pre-season. I only trained a couple of times this week.”
Of the game, Sheringham said, “I think they upped it a little bit at the start of the second half. They’re a very direct team and they were going down the hill… maybe I was little bit isolated in the second half until we made a couple of subs.”
Daryl McMahon said he’d assess Sheringham’s reaction to that runout before Tuesday night’s game but this morning told FleetOnline he expects the striker to train today where he’ll hopefully be joined by Danny Kedwell.
Sheringham himself was positive he’d be able to go again if required. “I recover well, I’ve got a couple of days. It’s wasn’t how I expected to come back with a couple of games in a couple of days, but I think I should be alright.”
