Stonebridge Road gearing up for Community Day

The preparation is done and the organisation is now under way for Ebbsfleet United’s biggest Community Day yet this coming Saturday, 9th April, at our home game v Chelmsford City.

The vital league game, coupled with the provision of complimentary tickets to numerous local schools, organisations and community groups, is expected to draw another big crowd to Stonebridge Road.

Turnstiles will open at noon, where fans will be able to sample all of the food stalls, musical entertainment and fairground attractions that the club has brought in as part of its ‘All The Fun Of The Fair’ theme this year. The Bench Café and the Kent African-Caribbean Forum will be providing a range of dishes while, musically, we have club favourites The No Limits Street Band in attendance and they will be performing outside the Fleet Social Club.

African drummers will be on show at the Plough End and we will also be entertained by a Bowie tribute act and the Maidstone Vocademy singers who will be at the Swanscombe End throughout the afternoon.

Fairground stalls will include a children’s roundabout, candy floss stall, tin can alley and other traditional favourites while pitch-side entertainment will be in the form of Knights Unplugged who will be helping build the atmosphere while our Kick Kent youngsters are being given a memorable afternoon as mascots for the game.

In addition to all of this, there is a serious side and our community sponsors MiddletonMurray together with all of our community partners will be on hand to showcase the wonderful work they do in and around our locality. See how they change the lives of the people around us and, who knows, be inspired to volunteer for one or two of them if they catch your interest!

Guests for Community Day include the Mayor and Mayoress of Gravesham, the Leader of the Labour Group John Burden together with other invited borough councillors.

Fleet and Chelmsford fans are urged to turn up early to sample the many attractions on show, enjoy a drink in the club bar and try a delicious sample or two from the food stalls around the ground. Here’s hoping for a successful Community Day 2016 on and off the pitch!
