The light fantastic

Ebbsfleet United’s brand new floodlights will soon be lighting up the night skies following today’s installation at Stonebridge Road.

The Football League-standard lights went up on schedule and fans won’t even have to wait until the autumn to see for themselves as they will get their first proper usage in the pre-season friendly against Charlton Athletic on Tuesday, July 22.

The stadium’s old lights were dismantled three weeks ago and the new lights meet the minimum 300-lux standard demanded of the Football League for 2014-15 (compared to 120 for existing floodlights in the Conference).

The floodlight installation is just one of a number of ongoing projects to the stadium which include the erection of an electronic scoreboard, an upgraded sound system and repainting in some areas.
