Ebbsfleet United manager praised his side and his supporters following Boxing Day’s goalless draw at Hayes Lane against league leaders Bromley.
“I thought it was an excellent point on a very heavy pitch that cut up towards the end,” Brown told FleetOnline. “My honest assessment was that we shaded the first half and they shaded the second. Both goalkeepers had saves to make and both goalmouths saw action.
“It was two teams going hammer and tongs to get three points, a real battle, and a thoroughly enjoyable game of football to watch and be a part of.”
“And I thought the crowd was absolutely superb and once again Fleet supporters are responsible for the home team’s biggest crowd of the season. It would be nice to see someone bringing 500+ supporters to Stonebridge Road but I just can’t see that happening.”
While his side failed to find the back of the net for the first time since the Dartford FA Cup replay, Brown was immensely pleased that the Fleet are proving difficult to beat and just as hard to score against. “That’s two clean sheets against two free-scoring sides in Sutton and Bromley,” he said, “and four points taken so far from the Christmas schedule.
“We’re 10 unbeaten and it would be nice to continue that run into the New Year. The players have been terrific over the last three months and hopefully we can push on in the league. We still have a Kent Senior Cup semi-final and a last 16 tie in the FA Trophy to look forward to as well.”
