Ebbsfleet United vice chairman Peter Varney hailed Operation Oyster as a total success after 500 Ebbsfleet United fans swelled the attendance to 742 in the FA Trophy second round win at Whitstable Town.
Varney said, “The fans were magnificent and to turn out in such large numbers was a boost to everyone at the club. The intention with Operation Oyster was that everyone wore something white and it was great to see so many people join in the fun.
“We had one fan in a chef’s top, many with white hats, jackets and scarves and it was great to see so many white Middleton Murray shirts following a week of brisk business in the club shop.
“I am pleased that the lady who offered to show me her white bra allowed me to take her word for it. Whitstable were great hosts and the whole day was a brilliant advert for Ebbsfleet United. I can’t thank the fans enough.”
