ABOUT EBBSFLEET YOUTH SECTION
Ebbsfleet United Youth Section, are proud to be the driving force of the FA community charter standard club at EbbsFleet United, and believe achieving this award demonstrates the hard work and dedication of our managers, coaches and volunteers in providing high quality, well organised and above all safe environment for nurturing and developing young players, boys and girls.
The Club has undergone some major changes over recent times – a name change and the takeover of MyFootballClub.co.uk being the most high profile. We are all very excited about the Club’s plans for the future, which should have a beneficial impact on the development of the Youth Section.
The youth section was formed in 1998, with Ian Docker and Mick Chatwin being instrumental in getting it off the ground. The youth section didn’t have a team playing in all of the age groups at that time and didn’t have a common home ground – the teams played at different locations.
In the year 2000, Ray Tuffield came into the youth section and went about the task of bringing some cohesion to the youth section, recruiting and developing more teams, managers and coaches. The aim was always to produce teams in every age group to offer development opportunities for young players and to support the men’s team at the club.
Over the years Fleet youth teams have had lots of league and cup successes in all the leagues they have played in. Now the Fleet youth section can boast having five mini-soccer teams and two 11-a-side teams playing in the SelKent Junior Football League, four teams playing in the Kent Youth League, five girls team competing in Kent league football and our mini Soccer Schools for 5-7-year-old boys and girls.
Some notable achievements since formation would include – achieving the highest charter accolade of FA Community Charter standard club, uniting with and developing the Ladies and girls section, moving all teams into one home ground and venue at Fleet leisure, getting our under 7s fun soccer club off the ground and seeing players come through the ranks and now playing for the 1st Team – as well as Premiership clubs.
